The Project
Mid-Columbia Libraries’ (MCL) expanded mission and new marketing and branding initiatives required them to rethink their presence on the web.
They needed a fresh approach that would help them serve a diverse community of over 200,000 residents, as well as meet the needs of 11 branches and a large Spanish-speaking population.
Fuse IQ needed to fully incorporate the new MCL branding efforts. The website redesign had to reflect the new direction of the organization, address the needs of Spanish-speaking patrons, as well as the specific needs of children and teens.
The Results
- Beautiful, usable design that reflects MCL’s mission and values
- Staff manage and update the website daily
- Accessible to Spanish-speaking patrons
- Age-appropriate features for children and teens
- Library branches each have their own website section
- Increased website usage and visitation
Our Solution
Better Web
MCL and Fuse IQ worked collaboratively to define user types and roles and to understand usage and navigation requirements. The Fuse IQ solution brought together:
- User experience analysis
- Content analysis
- Information architecture development
- Web design
- Content management system implementation(Drupal)
Better World
MCL and Fuse IQ are very proud and pleased with our collaboration and the results. MCL’s website visitation and usage are up significantly. Library patrons have many new website tools including the ability get daily feeds of staff-selected titles to “grow the mind.” The new site is accessible for MCL’s Spanish-speaking patrons. Each of the 11 branches has their own pages including respective calendar of events and news.
Fuse IQ made sure MCL staff members were thoroughly trained to easily manage website updates.
With a website that truly supports its work, Mid-Columbia Libraries achieves its mission: to enrich communities by empowering individuals with materials and services for lifelong learning and growth, starting at birth. Visit site »
