The Episcopal Diocese of Olympia

The Project

The Episcopal Diocese of Olympia (ECWW) has over 31,000 constituents in more than 100 churches across Western Washington. Their congregations cover a whole range of sizes and stages of development. Several affiliated institutions and numerous outreach and social justice ministries as well as a number of multicultural ministries are supported by the whole diocese.

ECWW contracted with Fuse IQ to solve a number of challenges:

  • The majority of the content on their site was no longer relevant and was outdated.
  • Their (original) site did not project clearly the mission and vision of the diocese.
  • The site used an older technology (ColdFusion) where it was becoming increasingly difficult to find adept developers in this language.
  • The content management system (CMS) was custom, difficult to update and enhance, and their needs were outgrowing its capabilities.
  • The constituent management system (CRM) was custom, difficult to update and enhance, and their needs were outgrowing its capabilities.

ECWW staff had dabbled with Drupal and had heard of CiviCRM. We created a new Web solution where the new design and updated logo, along with a Drupal/CiviCRM solution has propelled ECWW forward into a new era on online engagement.

The Results

  • A fresh new logo and site design that entices viewers with stories, blogs, a quick-view calendar and great content.
  • Staff can easily maintain and edit the website built using Drupal and CiviCRM.
  • Visitors can search and map churches and locate clergy easily.
  • Donation, services and engagement are promoted throughout the site.
  • Custom payment gateway for donations with separate funds allocation.
  • Staff can now track in real-time registrants for events and youth conferences through CiviCRM.

Fuse IQ helped ECWW eliminate outdated systems that were frustrating to use and created roadblocks. Today staff can easily manage and update content (the Bishop even blogs!) and youth are more engaged across social media platforms. ECWW has also increased outreach and engagement by providing up to date content on relevant and timely issues.
