About the Project

In 2015, Fuse IQ was hired by the YWCA of Seattle | King | Snohomish to embark on a multi-phase development project to redesign their website. With over 35 active programs supporting the YWCA's key initiatives - Housing, Health & Safety, Economic Advancement - they were in desperate need of a site that could easily organize and showcase their vast offerings, and promote their mission within the community. Our website development process dove deep into the goals of the organization, their staff that would manage the site, and the needs of users who would ultimately be using it.

Technology Audit & Assessment

In 2015, we began the first of two-phased technology audits. The first audit phase cataloged technology systems already utilized within the organization and brought understanding of where there were gaps. It also identified where there were opportunities to increase levels of communication and engagement internally and externally. The first phase was an instrumental time that set the foundation and informed technical solutions that we would build out for the YWCA.

Creative Direction & Consultation

Once we understood the technical needs and priorities for the new site, we launched into what would become a yearlong exploration of brand and identity exploration, as well as a thoughtful creative design process. With the adaptation of a new site and new technologies, this was the perfect opportunity for their team to examine their digital identity, and we were happy to collaborate and assist in the journey. We worked closely with the YWCA creative team to establish a unique brand identity throughout the design process, as well as to develop and approve all visual elements of the site.

Information Architecture & User Experience Strategy

With over 35 programs supporting the community around Seattle, it was imperative that the YWCA had a taxonomical relationship across their site, where information could be displayed and structured in a helpful, practical way. We custom designed several key components that support this goal, allow the site to be scalable, and make it easier for users to engage. Our custom design includes:

Programs + Services Finder

A robust tool that helps users to locate YWCA services by identifying who they are, areas of need, and their location

Events Calendar

An easily updatable calendar for users to stay current on events hosted by YWCA and their individual programs

Blogs & Newsroom

Two separate news centers, one scalable with individual blogs for YWCA entities and one for press releases and media professionals

Locations

An intuitive mapping feature to locate and learn more about YWCA locations in King and Snohomish counties

Complex Relationships

A connection point for all content on the site relating to an Issue Area, which are comprised of YWCA’s key initiatives - Housing, Health & Safety, and Economic Advancement

Easily Managed Design Elements

With the use of Drupal Paragraphs, YWCA is able to add various design elements across the site including Calls to Action, Media Highlights, Expandable Accordions and more

By structuring information properly, and providing these unique tools, users are presented with a very strong set of website features that take YWCA to the next level of donor engagement and client services delivery.

"Fuse IQ brought a wide swatch of talent to the project, and have created a new website that will make it easy for people to find our services and support our mission. It is beautiful and thoughtfully designed, and will make a positive impact on our organization and the community. We look forward to working with Fuse IQ on future projects!"
